Welcome to Ospreys!

Ospreys is our year 5 class and we are currently based in the Riverbank pavilion.

We enjoy a thematic approach to the curriculum, which means that our National Curriculum subjects and learning are linked to one area of study.

Throughout the course of one academic year, we cover three different themes (one per term) and lessons are differentiated to support and extend all of the children in the class.

We learn through high quality classroom based activities, which cater for all learning styles. Lessons are enhanced by trips, visitors and outside learning.

Forest School and Outdoor Learning sessions are an integral part of learning at Cotton End, and we aim to be outside as much as possible throughout the week.

During the Spring term, we are exploring ‘Earth and Beyond’. Please click the link for information about our learning:

Important information:

  • Please remember that the children need to have both a PE and Forest School kit in school at all times, as the subjects must be done in the proper clothing and footwear.
  • English and Maths homework is set on Wednesday. It must be returned the following Monday.
  • Spellings are given out on a Friday, ready for the weekly Spelling Test on the following Friday morning. Please don’t forget to help your child to learn their Spelling Bee words, too.
  • The children are currently being tested on the Times Tables each week, and so will need to practise them at home. Your child has a Times Table Rockstars account which they can access from home, and this will help them with their learning.

If you have any questions or concerns, please come and speak to me.
