Owls

Welcome to Owls Class!

Owls is our Key Stage 1 class for children in Year 1.

We enjoy a creative approach to our learning where all of the children’s needs are catered for.

In Owls class we begin to develop the skill of working independently and children are encouraged to find things out for themselves and to challenge and extend their ideas.

The children learn through a range of hands on, practical tasks as well as more formal written activities. We link our learning objectives to our high quality termly themes and the children immerse themselves in their learning.

Some important information:

Learning Logs are sent home every Friday and are due in the following Wednesday.

Spellings are sent home on a Friday. Spelling books are due back on the following Wednesday and the children are tested on the Friday.

Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school which includes warm and sensible footwear as the weather begins to get colder. Your child also needs waterproof trousers, wellington boots and a warm coat for forest school sessions on a Wednesday afternoon.

Our Autumn term topic is ‘Toys’  This topic is history based and the children will be learning about Toys today and in the past.  Our main text in English is ‘The Robot and the Bluebird’ by David Lucas and the children will have lots of fun learning to program their own robot in Computing and Maths.

During the term the children will be designing and making ‘robots’ using recyclable materials.
